Hello hello. Just bought my first two bottles of Jacqueline Burchell polish from Nail Deck. From what I understood from the owner of Nail Deck, launched in 2011, Jacqueline Burchell is a Singapore based brand that specializes in nails products such as nail lacquers, soak off gels, extension gels, top coats, base coats, cuticle oil and cuticle softeners. They have over 250 nail lacquer colours to choose from so you can imagine how happy I was when I found out that Nail Deck was reducing the prices of these little polishes today!
Yes so here's my first two bottles. I first heard of this brand last year when I saw their nail art contest but I didnt pay much attention to them then.
The one on the left is Stargazing and the one on the right is It Takes Guts. I couldn't find Stargazing on their online catalogue anymore but they still have It Takes Guts up there so here's a close up swatch of it from their website. http://www.jacquelineburchell.com
And yes, just like most other nail lacquers these days, they are Big-3 free as well. They come in really small 5ml bottles but I guess they're value for money now that Nail Deck is selling $8 per bottle at their pushcart stall in my school! The formula's thick enough for me to use just one coat for Stargazing and two coats for It Takes Guts and I quite like the big brush too. I've only tried both on my pinky so far and I love the high gloss look even WITHOUT topcoat.
Keep a look out for full swatches soon and I'm definitely gonna buy more of these cute little things!! (:
Love,
Lorraine

I couldnt resist the beauty of this! OPI's Oz The Great and Powerful mini collection!
4 mini bottles:
I Theodora You
Don't Burst My Bubble
Glints of Glinda
What Wizardry is This?
The first three are very sheer and three coats wasn't even enough to completely cover the nail till it's opaque. But the sheer/jelly-ness of these polish gives them a very feminine dreamy feel which I absolutely love! Great for layering and for jelly sandwiches too! I didn't know What Wizardry is This? was a textured polish very much like the MC liquid sand but less glittery. Not sure if I like the colour with the texture but I like it better with topcoat on.
There's another polish from this collection that I quite like too but its not in the mini set. It's Which is Witch... but I still love this mini set anyway. (:
Shall swatch these lovely polishes soon and need to stop buying so many new ones when I have so many polishes and designs I've yet to try with my current collection!

Lorraine
First Holographic Polish
POSTED ON: Sunday, March 17, 2013 @ 12:13 PM | 0 comments
Here's a swatch of my first holographic nail polish on my mum's nails. It's CG's Astro-Hot. Was considering between this one and a similar pink one from Colour Club. The Colour Club one had a more rainbow-ish holographic effect as compared to this CG one so it took me really long to decide which one to get in the end. This photo was taken with artificial lighting so the holographic effect doesn't show up very well. I dont really like the colour on my mum's fingers cos of her darker skin tone. I will definitely swatch this pretty pink polish again on my own nails (when they grow longer) and photograph them in natural sunlight to capture the beautiful holographic effect!
Spent almost an hour chatting with the owner of Nail Deck this Monday and I thought he really is quite amazing. So here's a little background on Nail Deck...
Daryl first started out as a little pushcart stall at NUS in Oct 2011 since he was an NUS alumni. This young entrepreneur saw potential in this market and started out as a distributor for Blaze Colour Changing Nail Lacquers. He made friends with other nail enthusiasts/retailers of nail polish and it's amazing how he gets all his stocks now. The little pushcart stall at SMU now boasts a collection of over 10 brands of nail polish (now you know why I can't help but pretend to walk past and take a look every now and then) going at really reasonable prices. I think it's really awesome for a guy to venture into to female dominated market segment so dear nail enthusiasts in Singapore, please support Nail Deck! (: http://naildeck.com http://www.facebook.com/NailDeck
P.S. How about a little giveaway soon?? ^^

First Barielle Polish!
POSTED ON: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 @ 2:51 PM | 0 comments
So i went to Nail Deck again yesterday to get CG's Holographic polish Astro-Hot after contemplating for about a week. I couldn't resist a bottle of Barielle since they were much cheaper than departmental stores and other pushcarts. So I got myself Barielle's Falling Star, a marine blue polish with orangey gold glitter.
Barielle's nail polish are advertised to be safer as they use more effective and natural alternatives in their formulas. I've seen nail salons that advertised this brand as being safe to use for even pregnant mothers and someone also told me that she could only use Barielle nail polish and not other brands of polish or she will develop rashes! I don't know how true this is since these are not promised on their website but it does sound great! (:
They have a few other nail and skin care products too so check them out on their blog! http://www.barielle.com
2012 All-Girls Team came back to visit during training on Monday. I had a chance to stunt with them again, and reminded of their immense strength. Really miss this team, how we trained hard together, how we talked/gossip about random things together.
Enough with the reminiscing, back to reality where the competition is less than 1.5weeks away. Yes ohmygoodness it's next Sunday! May we ASU next Sunday, group stunts champions please!! ><
Oh and here's a little shoutout to Oli's sister since Cassy told me she recommended my blog to her! Hope you liked the polish Cassy asked me to recommend from Etude House, I think their cream glitters are quite cute! (:
And of course, thank you Cassy for promoting my blog!! xx

Hello dears! Here's a simple mani using two polishes from my new mini set of OPI Euro Centrale. Can't Find My Czechbook and You're Such A BudaPest.
Some tips for taped mani...
I painted one coat of You're Such A BudaPest first, waited for it to dry completely before taping my nail and applying one coat of Can't Find My Czechbook.
Make sure the tape sticks to the nail properly and not leave any gaps between the tape and the nail or the second polish might seep under the tape during application.
The first colour has to be completely dry before taping or the polish will come off with the tape.
I stuck the tape to my skin before putting them on my nails so they will be less sticky too and wouldn't ruin the first colour.
After applying the second colour, the tape has to be removed immediately before moving on to paint the next nail so that the polish doesnt dry up and come off as a clump together with the tape.
I added a little pink bling to each nail after I sealed it with a topcoat.
Here's a picture of the set of pretty rhinestones. I got these 2400 piece 12 coloured round nail art rhinestones from www.mashnails.com for only $7.99. Mashnails sells other pretty shaped rhinestones, fimo canes, accessories, stamping plates and of course polishes. They ship worldwide so that's awesome too!
IHLCC (Institute of Higher Learning Cheerleading Competitions) in 15 days. Getting really stressed up and excited at the same time. It also means that training is gonna get more intense and I need to cut my nails so they wont accidentally scratch my fellow team mates. So I guess I wont be posting photos of my nails for the next two weeks or so but me being a nail polish addict, I will most definitely start painting my mum's nails so look out for them! (:

Yay my new set of mini polish! OPI's Euro Centrale! (Yes I got this from Nail Deck too, that's where all my money goes to these days)
4 pretty pretty colors:
Can't Find My Czechbook
Suzi's Hungary AGAIN!
You're Such a BudaPest
OY-Another Polish Joke!
Can't wait to swatch them soon!
Azel suggested I do some design with Can't Find My Czechbook and You're Such a BudaPest. She thinks these two colours would look cute together. I thought that was a great idea so do check out subsequent posts for swatches/designs! (:
Also mentioned in the previous post that the nice guy from Nail Deck helped me pre-order this OPI Nail Envy nail strengthener. Using it now and I think it's better than the Sally Hansen one.
Shall continue using it for the rest of the week and review it after that.
On a very random unrelated to nails note, we are left with 20 days to IHL cheerleading nationals. May the best team win.
